Hockey Drinking Game

There aren’t many things that are more hockey-related than beer and ice, which makes a hockey drinking game the perfect addition to any NHL game night. From the aforementioned beer hockey to more complex games that involve chugging and slam shots, these fun activities will transform your watching experience into a rowdy, raucous affair. Whether you’re cheering for your favorite team or just enjoying the thrill of a great hockey match, these games will ensure that you’ll remember this night for years to come.

What you’ll need:

The first player starts the game by spinning the coin and calling out the name of another player. The player who is called must try to block the coin from hitting their beer. If the coin hits, that player must chug their beer until it stops spinning. If the player successfully blocks the coin, they must drink the entire bottle of beer and take another turn. If they fail to block the coin, they must drink double the amount of everyone else in the group.

Players can also take turns being the referee and blowing their imaginary whistles to make penalties like “Too Slow!” and “Bad Flick!” happen, which leads to the offending player drinking twice as much as everyone else in the room. Alternatively, players can choose to add their own mini-challenges to the mix. Maybe slashing is worth a shot of tequila or hooking results in 5 burpees. These rules keep the fun light and rowdy, so the night’s not all about a hangover the next day.

One of the best parts of this hockey drinking game is that it doesn’t require a full roster of players. This is a great option if you’re only inviting a few friends over for the game and don’t have enough space in your home.

All you need is a table, a coin (preferably a quarter) and cans or bottles of beer for every player. Cans are preferable because they make a satisfying “ting” sound when they hit the coin. The first person to spin the coin takes a turn trying to flick it across the table to hit their beer. If the coin misses the target, that player drinks until it hits the table again. The goalie must chug their beer if they lose the faceoff challenge. Then, they must chug it again if they win it. If a player accidentally spills their beer, they have to drink up to the Zamboni rule. If they make the mistake three times, they’re out of the game.
