How Hockey Fights Cancer

Hockey Fights Cancer is an international charitable initiative of both the US and Canadian National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players Association in conjunction with the Canadian Cancer Society to raise funds and awareness towards cancer research. Every year, the hockey league has raised millions of dollars for the cause. Proceeds from hockey games, ticket sales and sponsorship sales help the charity receive funds and donations for research, treatment and management.

This year, the National Hockey League will once again take part in the Hockey Fights Cancer fundraising campaign. The annual Hockey Fights Cancer game, which draws a sold out crowd of fans, recreates an outdoor arena in Toronto, Canada where teams battle it out in a Hockey Fight. The proceeds from the game go towards the Canadian Cancer Society. Earlier this year, the NHLPA (National Hockey League Players’ Association) and its board of directors took part in the fundraising campaign in support of the NELA (North America Leukemia Association) and its search for a cure. Over the years, the NHL has donated millions of dollars to help fund the cause.

Last year, the league introduced the ‘NCAA Hockey Fighting Cancer Fund’ with the aim of raising funds and awareness for the disease. A portion of each ticket sold through the puck drop, telecast and online sale will go towards the cause. So far, the season opener has raised over one million dollars for the cause. The upcoming games are all planned to raise money, awareness and Spirit. This year’s charity ball will be hosted by Hockey Hall-of-Fame in Ottawa, Canada.

The Hockey Fights Cancer Charity Ball will take place on Hockey Day, a special pre-game event during the first game of the season. Proceeds from the sold-out tickets, hotel packages and food sales will benefit the non-profit National Cancer Society. Proceeds from the ‘NHL Fight Cancer’ dinner also benefits the league’s other charitable programs. This is one way in which hockey fights cancer while still having fun.

The ‘NHL Celebrity Charity Night’ will feature an autograph signing event for some of today’s most popular hockey players. Players such as Alex Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby, Wayne Gretzky, Patrick Sharp, Jonathan Toews, Vincent Toskanen, Mats Sundberg, Thomas Steen, Dominus Valtteri, Nicklas Seiberg, and others will be attending the concert to take in the sights and sounds of hockey’s greatest stars and entertainers. An auction will also be held to raise money for the league’s local chapters and to provide funds for research into cancer. The concert will raise awareness and help to increase funds for the cancer patients and their families.

There are a number of other ways in which fans, players, teams, and charities can raise money for various cancer programs. For example, hockey fights cancer initiative events often include game and ticket sales. The proceeds benefit local cancer research institutions. Proceeds from hockey fights can also be donated directly to various support organizations for cancer programs. By raising extra funds and purchasing tickets for hockey fights, fans not only show their support for local hospitals and disease programs, they also contribute towards the mission and ideals of their favorite team and player.
